Thermography
Thermography is a scientific medical diagnostic technique that uses a digital
infrared camera and high speed computer for imaging. It measures body tissue
heat energy. Generally "problem areas" show high temperatures due to increased
blood flow and increased metabolic activity or show no change in temperature
due to condensed tissue and irregular cells (i.e. tumours).
Major Benefits of a Thermography?
Timeliness
Problems with tissue function can be found before structural
abnormalities are seen on mammograms. Early detection provides the best
outcomes.
Inclusive
Examines the whole chest, breast and armpit areas. Good for all
breast types: young/dense, fibrocystic, women on HRT.
Precise
Locates exact problem area allowing for more precise focus with
other medical diagnostic tests: ultrasound, mammogram, MRI.
No Risk
No harmful rays emitted so can be done as often as needed without
risk.
No Pain
No squeezing, no pressure, no touching by equipment or technician.

"My personal account: I got a thermography exam solely because I
am part of the Pink and Green Ribbon Health Program. I have small breasts,
they are never sore and I have never had any types of lumps or irregularity.
The results of the exam indicated potential high estrogen levels in my
breasts. This is not a problem right now, but high estrogen levels could lead
to issues down the road. From the information provided by the thermography, I
can work to create normal estrogen levels and healthy breasts with diet,
natural supplements and consulting with my naturopath to eliminate resulting
problems as I get older." (Julie Budgen, age 34)
The Medical Thermography International Inc. (sourced above) is a clinic which
moves all over Canada and sets up thermography clinics. See when they will be
in your neighbourhood and book for a thermography exam!!

Thermography Training for Healthcare
Professionals
Dr. Verna Hunt ND co-founded Medical Thermography International
(MTI) and is now their medical advisor. She will be teaching her next
"Proactive Breast Care" Workshop on March 28 & 29, 2009 in Toronto - the
course is for NDs and other healthcare professionals interested in promoting
breast health and in using thermography to assess and monitor breast health.
Dr. Hunt's website is www.healthandwellbeing.com.
She has taught these workshops across Canada - contact her directly if you'd
